This - the Bluebird - is the fourth and final in Platinum's Shape of a Heart series of #3776 Century fountain pens.
It's limited to 2,000 pieces worldwide and is inspired by the 'bluebird of happiness'. It features a serene white barrel and a pale blue cap, both with a matt finish to ensure the pale rose gold plating stands out.
Four tiny heart-shaped pieces, which are punched out to make the breather hole on the pen nib, are placed together with zirconia crystals in the dome in the top of the pen. The nib is a beautiful piece of work - made in-house at Platinum, and hand-tested at the factory. It is 14 carat gold plated in rose gold.
Supplied in an exclusive gift box along with a converter, blue-black ink cartridge and a 20ml bottle of Platinum's mixable ink in Earth Brown.
The Platinum #3776 Century range uses the 'Slip and Seal' airtight cap. The innovative screw-on cap system uses an inner plastic seal with a strong spring. The primary benefit of this system is improved storage ability - the ink will not dry out even if left for over a year. An added benefit is improved resistance to leaks due to pressure changes.
Slip and Seal cap pens are compatible with Platinum Carbon and Pigment inks for everyday use.
The #3776 name comes from the height in metres of Mt.Fuji, the highest and most beautiful peak in Japan.
