Named for the Valley of Strathmore in Scotland, this American paper manufacturer was founded in Massachusetts in 1892. They produce a range of fine art papers endorsed by the likes of Norman Rockwell and Heather Rooney.
Shortly after opening their first paper mill, the founder, Horace Moses, took a trip to Scotland, and fell in love with the Valley of Strathmore, with the thistles blooming. He decided to use the name Strathmore, and use the thistle as their logo. The name and logo quickly became associated with some of the finest art surfaces available, and remains so today.
